MAXXIS Maxxcross IT Tire Combo  

The Maxxcross IT is Maxxis’ premiere off-road use intermediate terrain tire. The tire features a unique knob design to provide great handling and traction in a wide variety of soil conditions.  In addition, a new rubber compound enhances stability and adds grip for maximum control.

For the test, I installed a set of the Maxxis IT tires on my YZ250 for the Unadilla GNCC.   It rained a few days prior to the race followed by a couple days of sun so the course was in perfect condition for testing out my new tires.  The Unadilla course was a mix of rocks, roots, ruts, hills, grass fields, and just about everything else you would expect from a typical GNCC.  The tires performed great during the race and worked well over all the different obstacles I encountered.  I had no problems getting grip up the root covered hills or finding extra traction when I needed it.  The stability and control of the tire was really good and held straight lines in the ruts and on the motocross tracks with ease.  I especially noticed how well the front tire worked for me since I tend to have more problems finding a good front tire.  The tire never felt like it wanted to wander or slide out on me and gave me a lot of confidence going into the corners.  After the 3 hour race I checked out my tires and I was surprised to see that the tires had relatively little wear and that I would be able to get many more rides out of the set.   

The Maxxis Maxxcross IT tire provides great traction and works just as well as any other intermediate tire on the market.   It costs less than most other tires yet doesn’t lack any performance.  The tires are very durable with great wear resistance and last much longer than other tires on the market.  For the $109 per set price tag it’s definitely one of the best deals on the market.
